Our Economic Development programs aim to develop mind sets and institutions that shift economic dynamics from personal exploitation to cooperation, while introducing new modes of production and accessing new markets. All programs and projects support the fundamental goal of livable wages for community members.
El Pital Women’s Group is a group of nine organized women of
all ages who have joined together to unite and encourage each other’s personal
and collective growth through the process of developing their community’s first
restaurant.Â
Mi Casa Su Casa Home-Stay Program
Mi Casa Es Su Casa (My House is Your
House) is a
locally-run intercultural exchange initiative that has been implemented in the
community of El Pital, providing room and board within the homes of local
community members to volunteers and tourists visiting the Cangrejal River
Valley.
